ABOUT ME
I originally hail from Wisconsin, eventually going to college at the University of Wisconsin where I double-majored in Anthropology and Religions and Cultures of Asia. In my 20s & 30s, I moved around a lot, living in Colorado, West Virginia, Pennsylvania, DC, Nepal and Bhutan, obtaining a masters in Folklore along the way. Oregon captured my heart and in 2017 I decided to end my nomadic lifestyle and start putting down roots. In 2019 I enrolled in the California Institute of Integral Studies’ masters in Counseling Psychology Community Mental Health program (LPC track), and graduated in December of 2021. I became licensed as a Professional Counseling Associate in September of 2023.
As a therapist, I primarily work from a trauma-informed perspective, and believe that understanding the roots of our problems can help us find better paths through life. Eclectic in my approach, I primarily use a lens of narrative therapy, uncovering the sometimes unconscious stories we hold about ourselves and the world around us and creating a healing narrative that provides optimism, growth, and hope. My practice is also heavily informed by Buddhist philosophy (see link here). Depending on client needs, I also pull from CBT, DBT, attachment theory, emotionally focused therapy, and parts work.
My areas of focus include: depression, anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, men’s issues, sexual addiction, sexual trauma, and psychedelic integration. I am LGBTQIA+ aligned and trans-affirming (I use he/they pronouns).
