Narrative Therapy
“The Person is not the problem, the problem is the problem”
— Michael White, Co-founder of Narrative Therapy
All of us hold stories about ourselves, and often when we start therapy we can tend to have a “problem-saturated” story. Our work here is to bring these stories up to the conscious level, examine them, their origins, and the ways they have been reinforced in our lives, and then work on gently shifting those stories to a healing narrative that allows room for us to engage with the world with more ease.
Narrative therapy tends to stay away from diagnosis and pathologies, and orients more towards the individual as unique and complicated. It also incorporates examining our intersections in society and how societal stories have impacted the ways we show up in the world. Our goal is to help you develop a healthier relationship with the world and yourself.
